Share your pitch deck as a gated link rather than a PDF attachment — this lets you track who opened it, which pages they read, and revoke access at any time.
Share your pitch deck as a gated link rather than a PDF attachment — this lets you track who opened it, which pages they read, and revoke access at any time.
The problem with sending a PDF
When you attach your deck to an email: - You have no idea if it was opened - The investor can forward it to anyone - You can never update the deck — they're looking at an old version - You can't revoke access if the investor passes - There's no signal to tell you when to follow up
The right way: gated links
A gated link opens your deck in a browser viewer. The file is never downloaded. Access is controlled by you — and you see every view.
Choosing the right access tier
Warm intro from a mutual connection: Use email whitelist — add their address specifically. Feels curated, professional.
Cold outreach (many investors): Use any email + OTP — anyone who gets the link still has to verify their email to see the deck. You capture their email in the process.
After due diligence starts: Use a data room with whitelist — group your deck, financials, and cap table under one link.
What to put in the subject line
The link itself doesn't need an explanation. Your outreach email is the pitch. The subject line that works:
"[Your company] — [one-line description]"
Example: "IR1 — AI-native investor relations, $2M seed"
How to follow up based on what they actually read
This is the part nobody talks about. If you know they spent 4 minutes on your market size slide: → Your follow-up email leads with market size validation. "Wanted to share a data point on the TAM question..."
If they skipped straight to the team page: → Your follow-up leads with team credibility. "Thought you'd want to know we also have [advisor/investor] involved..."
If they opened it for 8 seconds: → Don't follow up yet. Try a different subject line with a new link.
When to send
Tuesday–Thursday, 9–11am recipient time. Never Friday afternoon. Never Monday morning.
Setting up your deck link in Prezdo
- Upload your latest deck at prezdo.com
- Set the slug: ir1.prezdo.com/seed (or seed-v3 for versioning)
- Access: any email + OTP for broad outreach
- Turn on real-time notifications (get pinged when opened)
- Include this link in your outreach — not an attachment
